January 24, 2017
It's been an interesting season for us here at MRBC. Lots of changes happening quickly. If there's anything the passing of time teaches us, it's that new challenges are just around the corner. Jesus promised that, "in the world you will have trouble" (John 16:33). I don't think that was meant to be a comfort but simply an observation. The comfort comes immediately after, "But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Though there have been new challenges I am amazed as I reflect on the masterful work of God.
Our Christmas season was incredible! "Oh What Fun!" turned out to be a fantastic Christmas event with lots of you there and lots of people we had never met! Our Christmas Eve services went off without a hitch as well.
And now 2017 has arrived! We had a congregational meeting on the 15th and we're amazed to see over 160 of you there. And we're looking ahead to our AGM in February as well as a new marriage conference staring on February 15th.
As the Young Adults Pastor I want to specifically recognize the work of God in our Young Adults ministry. Since we started in September we've hovered between having 18 and 27 people come for a time of worship and studying God's word on Thursday's and we're still seeing brand new faces nearly every week! Looking ahead into 2017 I have many prayers and hopes for this ministry the greatest of which is that the Spirit of God would work in all of our hearts to direct our devotion towards Him.
I'm excited to think of what can happen in a human sense (great hangouts and friendships forming) but mostly I'm excited for what can happen knowing God is at work. I would deeply appreciate your prayers for this ministry, for myself as I learn to lead and teach, and for all of the Young Adults north of the Fraser River.
As a Church we're looking ahead to the Beth Moore Conference happening at the end of January and we would love it if you would join us in praying that God's word would be preached well and the Spirit of God would convict the many ladies there of His truth concering who they are and who He is.
May God bless you as we press on in this race set before us!
